Cornell .... @ 2 am !!!!

" NANOTECH Building " : Cornell Universty.

" Olive Garden: Italian Restaurant "

We went for a lavish dinner last night @ Olive Garden ( an Italian Restaurant ). The restaurant was B...E....A ...U....T...I..ful and above that the food was awesome. It was 12:30 or 45 by the time we were done gorging in food. At 1 AM we came home picked some stuff and off we were to Ithaca. The reason we went there was, we didnt want to go home so early and the weather was gr8, cool winds and the smell of raindrops were pushing us to spend some time on the roads.
0
It was fun, the wind gussing in the car from all sides ( ohhh and the sun roof .. made it even better). Cornell University ( an Ivy league ) was our target.

We reached Cornell @ 2:15. It was beautiful. Its entrance is through a gaurge. Imagine u have a natural fall in you university. The duo of old medivial style and modern structures was deadly.

We stolled there for about and hour. We all wanted to have a leak then. It took us 30 min to find one loo. We checked all the buildings that our eyes laid sight on. But none of them were open for us ( the all req. Cornell IDs ). In the end we found one building we could have never imagined to have open doors, newly constructed "NANOTECHNOLOGY Building". The was one awesome structure. It was no less than a 3 start hotel. 3 storied bulding will gr8 labs and machines huh !!!!. I wish i had that kin do fbuilding here in my univ.

We did what we came for " euuuureka "!!!!. Looked around again. And then we were off to a lake side drive. That was beautiful as well. We yapped there for an hour and then left the place @ 5 am.

Ohhh i loved the peace in the air last night. It was so quite that you could actually hear the sound of the ripples in the lake and ya not to mention the breaze.
I love these meaniningless, random trips. And if i get to such a quite place to sit .... ohh it attaches a better boundary to such late nite excursions.

( i wish i had more time to stay @ the lake... ).

"Into The wild "....

I saw this movie today ( dono how i missed it ). But how i feel and what i want say is better said thought these soundtracks ( OSTz of Into the Wild).

Its an awesome flick. U have to watch it to understand what i am saying.

Before you listen to the track here are the lyrics.

Long Nights : Eddie Vedder ( Pearl Jam's Vocalist )

Have no fear
For when I'm alone
I'll be better off than I was before

I've got this light
I'll be around to grow
Who I was before
I cannot recall

Long nights allow me to feel...
I'm falling...I am falling
The lights go out
Let me feel
I'm falling
I am falling safely to the ground
Ah...

I'll take this soul that's inside me now
Like a brand new friend
I'll forever know

I've got this light
And the will to show
I will always be better than before

Long nights allow me to feel...
I'm falling...I am falling
The lights go out
Let me feel
I'm falling
I am falling safely to the ground

No ceiling : Eddie Vedder

Comes the morning
When I can feel
That there's nothing left to be concealed
Moving on a scene surreal
No, my heart will never
Will never be far from here

Sure as I am breathing
Sure as I'm sad
I'll keep this wisdom in my flesh
I leave here believing more than I had
And there's a reason I'll be
A reason I'll be back

As I walk
The Hemisphere
*I've got* my wish
To up and disappear

*I've been* wounded
*I've been* healed
Now for landing *I've been*
Landing *I've been* cleared

Sure as I'm breathing
Sure as I'm sad
I'll keep this wisdom
In my flesh

I leave here believing
More than I had
This Love has got
No Ceiling

" I " - HOP ... yahh we hopped .. for abt 40 miles . !!!!!!

Last nite 5 of us went out for a movie " get smart " . We were late so we had to kill are desire to eat early and do some stuff later. It was 12:30 am when the movie got over.
At that time IHOP ( International House of Pancakes ) was the best option we had. And believe me our stomachs were growling hard for that awesome " chicken Fajita omelette " and the super soft pancakes they serve.
So we fed our classy Honda GPS the location of the IHOP which has the best service here. But like any other hifi gadjet it failed to show up the results. In the end we went to the nearest IHOP, which was about 7 miles away from where we were. When we rached there it was all full. 20 out of 22 tables were occupied.
We had to leave for the IHOP we had planed to visit earlier. Luckily we now got it on the GPS. It was 12 miles from that place.
Our bad luck contiued .. we reached there and it was closed. Dammmm
it was now 1: 30 am.
We tried for the third IHOP which was again ... 12-13 miles drive. And we all drove 13 miles for nothing. We couldnt find any " IHOP " there. Marred by luck, we decided to go back to the packed IHOP. And it was againg 13 miles from that place. ( talk about how lucky 13 is ).

In the end we had our dinner @ 2:30 am. But it was worth waiting. We came home around 4 am.
And the 7 hr nap was just what the doc ordered.

That sums up my Hopping dinener ... @ IHOP.

PS : the late nite drive reminded me of my undergrad days in India. Coffee @ 1am in Guffaa and the tea and poha @ 3 am in shankarnagar. I miss those days.

Camera Lens Vs. Sky diving !!!!!!!!!!!!

Its summer now and i plan to go on long drives. And if i go places i will do photography, its kind of a hobby and besides i love it.
Last semester bought a cam Sony DSC H7 ( a hybrid cam or lets say it almost matches the lower end DSLRz). I was actually saving money for Canon Rebel XTi, but my patience gave up and had to buy this one. It works fine, though if i have went along with what my instincts said i would have ended up buying Canon S5 IS, which i now realize would have been a better choice. Though there is hardly any difference in them.
When i was done with all my save money it was now time to move to the next level. I started saving money for a sky dive. This has been my dream since i don't know when. I ended up saving around 200 $ for it.
I was about to plan a trip to the Long Island for the sky dive, i found out that Sony has two converter lenses for my DSC H7. Now how in the world can i resist trying those. I ended up buying those to lenses with money that i had saved for my " FREE FALL " adventure.

The lenses are awesome no doubt. I once had a thought flash of sending those two back and keep the money for sky dive, but my love for photography won over my " free fall " dream.

But i know i'll some how manage to get the Sky dive done this summer only after all, 10 sec in heaven... who would want to miss that.

Killer Apps !!!!!

Apple yesterday announced the launch of new iphone 3G. iPhone says a lot about itself and with that 3G in it is like another feather in the hat.
What makes it even more special are the new awesome Apps ( applications ).
These apps include games, remote desktop browsing, friend locater ( shows the location of a friend on a map) and many more interesting apps.

Out of these i found the " Mobile me" and " loopt " most interesting and useful.
Mobile me stores all the information about you and your contacts which are on your MAC or PC ( including your mail and files on you desktop ) in a remote server " Cloud " from where you can access all the information from anywhere in the world though your iPhone. And any change that you make on your PC/ MAC or iPhone will be reflected back/saved in all the devices that are connected to your mobile me account.

Cool !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loopt is a social networking app. that basically locates your friend and displays his/her current location on a map.

Niceeeee !!!!!!!

There are many other apps. Look them up .. !!!

iPhone 3G !!!!!!!!!!!

Its here !!!!!
Today at Moscone Center West in San Francisco, California Apple announced the much awaited " iPhone 3G ". Well by now everybody knows its heavily loaded with new gr8 apps, GPS and all that stuff. What was a shocker was its price, a dirt cheap ( when compared with other 3g PDA type cells ) $ 199 .

I guess Steve Jobs wants the whole dam world to use only iPhone.
You will hear the kids say " I want iPhone and nothing but iPhone ". In my opinion Mr. Jobs and apple finance handlers didnt realize that its gonna a nightmare for the parents to keep the rope tight on their kids.

It has almost everything with that people wanted in that apple product, but still its not upto that mark. Take the GPS for instance its an " Assisted GPS " not the kind of GPS we have in our cars.
I guess apple left it for the future, just to keep them busy with iPhone. The apple people like creating a buzz about there expected products. With the " assisted GPS " they want the people to keep flooding there blogs/forums etc with rumors about the next iPhone ( iPhone 3G x lets say ).

Anyways enough said I think i should buy it. The black one of course.

Boondock Saints .. ( Explicit Content .. viewers digression is advised :P )

This one in my opinion provides the best possible solution to reduce the the crime rate. Some might digress with this view of mine but if one need justification i say watch the movie and listen to what people say towards the end ( during the casting). If you are still not convinced i say you have a blind faith in the egregiously corrupted judiciary of ours.

The movie is about two brothers who fight for the good of the society, and by fight i mean they pulverize the "bad" people.

Its not "that" a great movie in terms of direction and picturization but what sets this flick apart are the dialogs. Its a mix of the Irish , American , Italian and Russian accents. One more plus point are the hymns. The two main characters chant a prayer before they announce there judgment.. which believe me is awesome. Its not something that one would call "music to my ears" when you listen to it carefully, as the contents are not that pleasing. But what's in that hymn is a fact. " A bitter truth".

And ya last but not the least the use of the " F " word is like somebody had a verbal diarrhea of the " F " word. There is a a scene where a guy uses the " F " word in every grammatical way he knew. Imagine after hearing this what would the other guy standing with him must have said ....

Guess ????????.............

" Now that describes the diversity of the word ". :P

Its an old flick. But one should watch it.

Here is the stretched version of the prayer which the two main actors say:

"Now you will receive us.
We do not ask for your poor, or your hungry.
We do not want your tired and sick.
It is your corrupt we claim.
It is your evil that will be sought by us.
With every breath we shall hunt them down.
Each day, we will spill their blood till it rains down from the skies.
Do not kill, do not rape, do not steal, these are principles which every man of every faith can embrace.
These are not polite suggestions, these are codes of behavior and those of you that ignore them will pay the dearest cost.
There are varying degrees of evil, we urge you lesser forms of filth not to push the bounds and cross over, into true corruption, into For if you do, one day you will look behind you and you will see we three. And on that day, you will reap it.
And we will send you to whatever god you wish.
And shepherds we shall be, for Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be.

In nomine Patri.

Et Fili.
Spiritus Sancti."

Maybe she'll pick him out again, how long must he wait
Once more for a simple twist of fate.

- Bob Dylan (Simple Twist of Fate)

*)
I kept the right ones out
And let the wrong ones in
Had an angel of mercy to see me through all my sins
There were times in my life

I was so sick and tired
Of livin' a lie
I was wishin that I
Would die

Classic Rock ..... !!!

Let there be light and there was light, let there be guitars and there were guitars, let there be drums and there were drums and let there be sound and there was sound.
"Oh, let there be rock!"
It was now time for the Gods to sing.

Music has an influence on all. And some of the most influential band and artists of all times chose the " Rock " style to do so.
Here are few lines from some of there best compositions.
( one liners / paraz )

*) Nobody gonna take my car
Im gonna race it to the ground
Nobody gonna beat my car
Its gonna break the speed of sound
Oooh its a killing machine
Its got everything
Like a driving power big fat tyres
And everything

I love it and I need it
I bleed it yeah its a wild hurricane
Alright hold tight
Im a highway star

*) "My hands are tied, my body bruised...she got me with nothing to win and nothing left to loose." - U2

*) We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl,
year after year,
running over the same old ground. What have we found?
The same old fears.... : Pink Floyd

*) "you live you learn
you love you learn
you cry you learn
you lose you learn
you bleed you learn
you scream you learn

you grieve you learn
you choke you learn
you laugh you learn
you choose you learn
you pray you learn
you ask you learn
you live you learn"

(alanis morissette - you learn

*) "You may say i'm a dreamer but i'm not the only one": Lennon (imagine)

*) "I know I didn't need to, but I just said...
THAT MY GOD WOKE UP ON THE WRONG SIDE OF HIS BED..
and it just don't matter now..."

--Little by Little, OASIS.

*) The stones- Paint it black

With flowers and my love both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away
Like a new born baby it just happens evry day

Though I like the spun version floating arround the net,

With crosses and my love never to turn back,
Most people turn their heads and quickly look away,
Like a stillborn baby their all dead anyway

*) I was spending my time in the doldrums
I was caught in a cauldron of hate
I felt persecuted and paralysed
I thought that everything else would just wait

While you are wasting your time on your enemies
Engulfed in a fever of spite
Beyond your tunnel vision reality fades
Like shadows into the night

To martyr yourself to caution
Is not going to help at all
because ther'll be no safety in numbers
When the right one walks out of the door

Can you see your days blighted by darkness?
Is it true you beat your fists on the floor?
Stuck in a world of isolation
While the ivy grows over the door

So I open my door to my enemies
And I ask could we wipe the slate clean
But they tell me to please go fuck myself
You know you just can't win

Am I a Cold Person .......

I wonder whether its a Q or a fact that i keep denying. I still dont know.
I hope its not true or it remains a Q. The fact is really dont want to know.

I have seen people die ( v. close ones).
Many of them died in front of me and as far as i remember i got emotional ( if that's what crying means) in not more than 2-3 of them.

Most of the people WILL address me as STONE COLD after reading this ( some might say hey " you are strong" ... and again .. " i dont know "!!! what i am ).
But the fact is i do feel the greif/pain deep inside now matter how emotionally aloof i was from that person.

I remember, one of my very close friends died 3 years back. And i know what it felt like, and believe me i cried even more that a newly born baby would. The pain of his loss was more than a stab in heart.

Recently two of my very close relatives died, and their deaths only came to me as a shock. ( keeping aside the sorrow/grief part).

So .. " Stone Hearted " i am .... right.

I dont know what i am. And as i say " i am not the best judge".
People who know me they say and they feel i am not " COLD" ... but sometimes do feel that i belong to that category of people who are indifferent and unsesetive.

I guess .... it is a Q.

"Am I a Cold Person ??".
RD ....

I found this on some random page on the internet... its funny 'cause it actually describes how erred Microsoft products are... :P

" There was once a young man who, in his youth, professed a desire to become a "great" writer. When asked to define great, he said: "I want to write stuff that the whole world will read, stuff that people will react to on a truly emotional level, stuff that will make them scream, cry, wail, howl in pain, desperation and anger!"

He now works for Microsoft writing error messages."

10 Weirdest Things Ever Sold On eBay !!!

Perhaps you've heard stories of people auctioning off strange items on eBay, like the homely kid who put his virginity up for bid or the bald guys who offer their own heads as advertising space. But those are nothing compared to some of the items that have made their way onto eBay's digital auction block.

Here are ten of the weirdest things ever to appear on eBay. To qualify for this list, the item or items must have received at least one bid, proving the point that no matter what you have to sell, somewhere there is a buyer for it.

10. Item #191367029: The Internet

If people can sell plots of land on the moon, then why can't someone sell the Internet? Someone did just that, for the bargain asking price of $1 million. Of course, it was all just a gag and it's unlikely that this Pay Pal transaction ever went through. But still, it would have been the deal of the century-the buyer was even throwing in free Internet access.

9. Item #277481422: UFO Detector

A prototype manufactured by a Brazilian company, this modified magnetometer is supposed to pick up UFO activity and was proven to work when red and orange balls of light appeared in the skies over Sao Paulo. Unfortunately, it wasn't 100% guaranteed due to the fact that "the propulsion systems of UFOs are not the same." Why would the seller want to part with such a unique item? It's okay-he had two. Final sale price: $135.03.

8. Item #248619068: The Meaning of Life

Someone finally figured it out, and they put it up for sale on eBay. Even with eight bids this incredible find didn't fetch much, but it was probably the best $3.26 the winning bidder ever spent.

7. Item #1178647016: Russian Test Space Shuttle

This one-of-a-kind item was once offered by a Russian company for $2 million, but was posted on eBay for "a fraction of that." It's not known how much they wanted for the scaled-down Bor-5 VKK spacecraft, because the reserve price was never reached. Bidding topped out at $25,200, but perhaps it was the $5,000 shipping price that scared off potential buyers.

6. Item #2961640885: Vampire Killing Kit

The stylish vampire hunter would love this late 1800s European "vampire killing kit," which included a crossbow with four silver-tipped arrows, an ebony wood stake, a large bottle of holy water and various surgical instruments, among other things. A solid mahogany wood box kept the items secure until they would be needed. Final bid: $4,550.

5. Item #289158639: Real Shrunken Head

Straight from the Jivaro Indian tribe in the jungles of Ecuador to the world's largest electronic marketplace, a total of 26 shrunken heads were put up for sale. Only 7 people bid on them, with the top bidder paying just under $25. It is assumed that he or she got first choice of the heads, which ranged in color from dark brown to gray.

4. Item #2931457201: Ghost In a Jar

As the story goes, the seller of this item found a rotted wooden box while metal detecting. Inside were two glass jars and a journal. One of the jars was accidentally dropped, causing a black mist of some sort to be released. The other jar and the journal were taken home, and the seller proceeded to be haunted by something he could only describe as "The Black Thing."

Wishing to pass the jar (and the ghost) on to someone else, he put the still unopened jar on eBay, insisting that only serious bidders would be considered. People must have loved the story, because there were well over 60 bids placed.

Unfortunately, not all of them were serious, because the selling price topped $90 million. No word as to who finally wound up with the jar, or if they too had supernatural visitors. Since this auction, there have been many, many more "ghost in a jar" items posted on eBay.

3. Item #150118191: USAF Hughes AIM-4D Falcon Missile

Yes, a real missile was auctioned off; fortunately, it was disarmed prior to the sale. The bidding reached $3,950, but the reserve price was never met.

2. Item #127658711: Serial Killer's Fingernails

In 1979, Lawrence Bittaker and Roy Norris cruised southern California on a killing spree that resulted in at least five victims. And now, the fingernails of Roy Norris have been sold on eBay for only $9.99.

Taped to the back of a Christmas card, they were accompanied by a penned note from Norris himself, signed and topped off with the serial killer's black thumbprint.

1. Item number not known: "Stricken Life" Painting

A rather macabre-looking self-portrait of a man known only as "Harold," this painting is believed to be haunted. The artist was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in early 2001. Knowing that he could no longer care for his Multiple Sclerosis-stricken wife, he put a double-barrel shotgun against her head while she was sleeping and squeezed the trigger.

He then went into the den and put the shotgun in his own mouth. The house where the murder-suicide took place was eventually sold, and the new owners found the painting. Strange things started happening, such as the family dog sitting in front of the painting and howling, so Harold had to go -- on eBay, of course.
